Get Healthy, Get Volunteering!
Volunteering is a great way to make a difference, gain life-changing skills and give back to your local area. Not only will you get to meet new, interesting people when out and about in the community, but you will have the chance to get creative and make a positive impact on the lives of others. Volunteering is for everyone - you don’t need any previous experience, just a passion to help out. When you dedicate your time to something you love, the rewards are endless. The sense of satisfaction you get from helping others has a huge positive impact on your own mental health and wellbeing and that’s always great for your confidence. Volunteering opens doors to new opportunities so with all these benefits, can you afford not to?

Receive a Certificate of Recognition and Workplace References
We value your time here with us at Get Healthy, and we wouldn’t want your hard work and commitment to go unrecognised. In addition to receiving valuable feedback from staff on the transferrable skills learned, those who have successfully completed their agreed volunteering team will receive a certificate of completion.
University students (undergraduate level only) who have completed 25 hours volunteering with Get Healthy will receive support in obtaining a Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) transcript. For more information click here: http://www.hear.ac.uk/about
All successful volunteers will also be able to request a reference from Get Healthy in recognition of their contribution to the service. Giving up your time to help others is a noble act, and we won’t let that go unnoticed.
What will I be doing?
The days of twiddling your thumbs and photocopying for the entire office are over! Our Get Healthy Champions programme is all about helping you grow and making sure you get the most out of your time with us.
Health is important to all of us. As part of our team, you will be engaging with our communities, meeting with people and providing information on health and wellbeing to members of the public. As a volunteer, you will be going out there and making a difference within diverse communities across the city. Don't worry if you have not worked in a health environment before - no prior knowledge is required as training will be provided!
Work with the Get Healthy team towards their vision of helping local people stay happy and healthy, for longer. You’ll be supporting the Get Healthy Coaches during their appointments with clients.
Also, you will be working with the Community and Workplace Development Officer to deliver promotional events within the City. Our service is free and open to anyone living in the area over the age of 18, and so we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out! You will have the opportunity to get creative and raise awareness of the service through supporting the Marketing and Information Officer. This could include using social media as well as traditional promotional materials to connect with health and social care services and community groups.
